Buffalo Central Terminal by Eli's Femur Bone

A tribute to one of my favorite Art Deco buildings. Incidentally, you can read more about it here:

1. Every time I see that, I can't help but think how sad that is.

I wish they'd do something with it. A shopping mall (instead of that monstrosity they have downtown!). Or the gateway to a new stadium. Or the hub of a new, expanded subway & commuter rail system.

But, this is Buffalo - if there's a wrong way to do something TPTB will bend over backwards to find a way to push that particular "solution" through, no matter what the consequences.

Like the landmark Bernstone's Cigar Store on Main at Swan.

It was a beautiful old 1850's building. I walk by it every day, and almost every day I've thought that someone should open up a business there. It's an ideal location for an upscale restaurant, or a bar. The out-of-town owners up & tore the place down last week!

It's just so fucking depressing.

2. Are there any commercial buildings near it?

It could be restored like the Paramount Bldg in Asbury Park, NJ. One or two stall were set up and rented out at a small cost. The lobby is now occupied with merchants.

What economic activity is left in Buffalo?

4. There's talk that it will be restored should high-speed rail be implemented in NYS

...and used as a rail hub.

which was one of my favorite places when I lived in Ohio years ago.
