(24,411 posts)... On this????
This is outrageous. It is blatant cheating. Theres's no way in hell that we can win if that many voters are prevented from voting.
This is really an epidemic that must be fixed. It's obvious that suppressing the vote and making it harder to vote are an integral part of the Republican strategy.
Really sick!! I just can't sit through another 04 situation where we know they stole it but we are powerless.

(8,846 posts)There ain't none. County DEC's are pretty much octogenarian social clubs. Any younger talent that comes around with a little bit of energy and enthusiasm gets run out of town. Can't be upsetting the apple cart.

(6,045 posts)This election is over...The GOP have effectively made it nearly impossible for Obama to win big states that matter like Florida & Pennsylvania & Ohio.
This country has so much potential yet we are being held back by Christian zealots who are more interested in what I am doing in my bedroom & what women are doing at the doctors office than they are about the future of America!
It is so sad & aggravating.

(5,763 posts)That's why I think the GOP will take Florida and Pennsylvania, and probably Ohio. More than that, they've gerrymandered themselves into perpetual re-election in other states, and then they can cheat with Diebold in others. Nobody knows how many votes they steal with that.
Then you have conservative judges and the fact that they've blocked Obama's judicial appointments, keeping the bench on the right.
In other words, they're entrenched. Even if this country moves left, even if the ethnic demographic changes so that they're voting numbers decline vastly, they're set to sway policy for decades, if not control it.

Shouldn't Obama be taking a stand against this through the court system?
Or an executive order?

(53,475 posts)If not, wouldn't it make sense that voter registration would decline somewhat after those "big" years?
No, I'm not trying to make excuses for the repubs suppressing the vote, which they are very obviously trying to do.
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)That is an excellent question. We had unprecedented numbers of Dem voters in 08, so it makes sense that registrations would decline. I'd also like to know if Floridians who registered in 08 are still registered and eligible to vote this Nov??
Hose are important questions! Thanks for asking, and I hope those with knowledge of Fla voting will chime in.

(7,006 posts)In 2008, a number of Democrats or Left-Lending individuals registered and VOTED for Barack Obama in 2008. Unless these folks unregistered themselves, where massively kicked off the voter rolls or left the state, they should STILL be eligible to vote.
Look, I have no problems with sounding the alarm and maybe that's what being done in this case. BUT....it seems the RIGHT ACTION, RIGHT NOW is to ensure Floridians who registered in the last four to six years, are STILL REGISTERED to vote.
Also, PLEASE be aware, this election is going to be ugly. The GOP is pulling out all stops to STEAL THIS ELECTION!
Instead of "throwing up or hands", we need to TAKE PROACTIVE action! Call your Township, City, County Clerk....ensure you're on the voting rolls. GET PROOF....i.e. a copy of the document, if you have too.
Either way, be PROACTIVE because being reactive will have many Americans downright sad as hell on November 6th/7th night and the next day!
