and fired if they don't meet them. The only way to meet those goals consistently is to cheat and that's exactly what happened.

I don't know why anyone is surprised by this. It's what managers are being taught to do.

The whole corporate edifice is built on layers and layers of fraud and it's all getting mighty shaky.

Yeah, iceberg, tip, and all that.

as the higher ups were made aware of it and rather than correct it they punished the people reporting it by finding ways to fire them.
So ya I think the CEO knew about this and just winked and let it continue and he needs to be held criminally liable for it.
