tremendous amount of money to England and France, and they knew that if Germany won the war,
they'd never get their money back.
To me that has the loud ring of truth to it.
This is great. I'll have to look for a transcript of the speech.

it was also theorized that if Germany won, the European economy would collapse completely.
I guess the U.S. thought, better to have Germany fail than have the two that owe us money fail.
