1. The more people get to know Romney the less they like him.
|
"The survey shows Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, has yet to repair the damage
done to his image during the Republican primary. Thirty-nine percent of Americans view him favorably, about the same as when he announced his presidential candidacy last June, while 48 percent see him unfavorably -- a 17-percentage point jump during a nomination fight dominated by attacks ads. A majority of likely voters, 55 percent, view him as more out of touch with average Americans compared with 36 percent who say the president is more out of touch." http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-06-20/obama-leads-in-poll-as-voters-view-romney-as-out-of-touch.html |

34. Well, honestly,
|
I've been surprisingly good at picking which candidate is going to win, since, well, 2004. So, while I don't have a long record, my prediction is that Obama, even if he phones it in, will win in a landslide. Once he figures out that he is still viable as long as he never utters the words "hope" or "change" and continues with these mini emancipation proclamations (gay rights, naturalizing illegals), he is going to make mince meat pie out of the 1% ken doll.
While Obama may make me feel like pulling my hair out as a governor, he is and always will be, an amazing candidate. The only danger I see is if the huge young army he created (and then unceremoniously dumped) in 2008 refuse to come out and vote again. But that remains to be seen and really, there isn't anything I can think of that will bring them back unless they choose to come back. Those of us who've been in this game know well how to plug our nose and do the right thing. I hope the kids understand the lesser evil concept. |

13. Vote for Romney (NOT)
|
Let’s all vote for Romney because:
• Romney’s economic plans are the same as Bush’s and we Americans want another depression causing the loss of millions of jobs. And of course middle class Americans need to lose another 40% of their wealth like they did as a result of Bush Policies. • We need to get involved in two more wars in Syria and Iran. After all the wars that Bush started in Iraq and Afghanistan are winding down and we middle class Americans need to send off another five thousand of our kids to be slaughtered for political and economic gain for the RW Capitalist. • We need even more republicans in office to push back against women. Romney will need all of our help to push back women once and for all make sure that their earnings are never equal to what a man receives for the same job. We need all the republicans we can muster to become even more energized with state politics so that State Government can force women who want to exercise their right for an abortion to be subjected to vaginal ultrasounds. With a good showing of republican support it shouldn’t be too long before we can start making women wear Burka’s and always walk behind their man. Although this has not been verified it’s becoming more apparent that republicans are pushing for their own version of Sharia Law. , Please keep your fingers crossed,. • Because the shift in wealth, particularly the top 2% has not been good enough. A 15% effective tax rate is just too high. • Of course this post is sarcasm on my part but unfortunately it’s mostly the truth if republicans get even more power than they have now. |

17. Great. The entire country *isn't* a bunch of mindless nincompoops!
|
I live in Iowa and Rmoney was here last week. Hubby and I were watching the local news, as they covered Rmoney's speech. I wish all of you could have seen the two soundbytes. The guy can't pull a normal sentence out of his mouth. He seems robotic,
uncomfortable and out of his element. My husband and I looked at each other and laughed. The guy *seriously* needs new writers. He was trying to say that Obama had his chance and now it's time for someone new. He blathered on and then his voice trailed off. At the very end, he did that goofy smile of his--you know the one--where he looks like a piece of plastic trying to mold his mouth into a smile. It just doesn't work. The man is pathetic. And one more thing--I've about had it with the rabid lather that right-wing-radio listeners have themselves whipped into. Have you listened to this garbage lately? OMG...it is so over the top. Glenn Beck is pedaling food insurance every hour--because Obama is going to implode the country and leave food shortages. Oh yeah, he's also going to outlaw gardening. So get your dehydrated beef stew RIGHT NOW PEOPLE!! Seriously...the far right is stoking some serious hatred and polarizing bullshit. I for one, cannot wait until Obama wins this thing--just to hear their idiotic heads collectively implode when they have to deal with Obama for another four years. Beck today was talking about how God has been speaking to him about what he must do. So, he's planning something big, folks--for July 30th! God told him to do it! Batshit crazy, meets lies, meets delusions, meets radical politics. It's insane. Great news on this poll. I tend to lose faith in this country sometimes, knowing that a contingent of our citizens listens to right-wing radio and laps it up like programmed lemmings. Good to hear that many of our citizens see Rmoney for the dolt that he is. |

18. Even with the primary Romney, I have only seen TWO Romney stickers in the South Puget Sounds.
|
Two. Two. Two. Obama stickers in my Republican leaning town? Too many to count. More than last election. The media and Karl Rove, Koch Brothers, and US Chamber, are trying SO hard to convince us that the angry old white men who permeate the comment boards on every news site ARE going to win this for Romney.. but the poll numbers don't add up. You can spend a billion or more (which Crossroads et al are going to do) trying to market Romney, you can try to hide him from average folks and the media (which they're doing,) but at some point SOMEONE has to actually LIKE the guy. And they don't. Every single nasty thing I see written on the internet about the election is bashing President Obama... NEVER praising Romney. And the haters are vocal, and they are sitting around online on the news sites, spewing their stuff. But Still no one actually LIKES Romney. He is unlikable. He is the epitome of the rich bully archetype.
I can only hope that the debates will explose him for the dolt he truly is. The guy lives off his investments... running for Prez seems to be a hobby. |

in LA , about 2 weeks ago. He was attending a sold out fund raiser $2,500 per.
I had Workman here so I missed all the excitement ~ my neighbors gave a glowing report..... Parents with children in their arms were lining the main streets surrounding the neighborhood just to see his face and see him wave. Older children had "Obama. Obama!" There were hundreds of people Maybe in parts of Orange County, maybe, just a maybe ~ Rmoney could get a crowd of 20 max and then the Big Bucks 1 % would have to throw $20 bills in the air to get a phony crowd of Baggers. |

But then, I wouldn't. This is the bluest area of the state and the biggest. Washington State will go for Obama, as it should be. Now, if it were a contest between Obama and a liberal, I would be conflicted, but it's not, so I'm not. And neither are my fellow Washingtonians, at least here in the Seattle area.
I have to admit, I'm spending more of my time and money on the state race for Governor. With Chris Gregoire bowing out, it's fairly unlikely that Jay Inslee is going to win against Rob McKenna. But, hope springs eternal. I'm not really sure Gregoire could have won either and I think her early polling is what made her decide to step out. Rob Mckenna has always sounded so reasonable, I'm not sure why I think he's going to go all unreasonable on us. Oh, wait, now I remember. The douchebag filed to try to get Obama's healthcare initiative destroyed in the Supreme Court. He took his supposedly apolitical post and made it all political and shit. |

Don't mean to be a downer, but we must keep the pressure up. If this guy wins, Democracy loses.
The Poll is great, but Its way too early to celebrate. I keep bringing this point up because this election is different than any other in my lifetime. The Right wing is pushing its entire Fascist agenda and they have a ton of money behind them. ( Don't be alarmed; this is not the jingoist use of the term fascist. I mean it the same way that Mussolini defined it; as the complete subordination of the government to the business world and the Wealthy.) My main concern is that this is not a game. People will be hurt by these villains. And make no mistake, they know exactly what they are doing. They just don't care , because they have more than they could ever need. I predict that the Right wing will do all in its power to manufacture some crisis right before the election. I'll leave the soap box ... for now........ . |

|
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/20/bloomberg-poll-barack-obama-lead_n_1612758.html
Other surveys conducted in recent weeks have shown a generally closer race. The HuffPost Pollster chart, based on all available public polls, gives Obama a slight lead of 46.0 to 44.7 percent. If we set aside the Bloomberg polls and also exclude others (Rasmussen Reports and Gallup) that tend to skew more for Romney, Obama's lead would expand to just over three points (47.2 to 44.1 percent). I agree with the analysis at HuffPost. I think it's closer than 13 points. Even sources within the Obama campaign itself expect a close race. |

|
They're typically pretty quick to deploy the pro-GOP propaganda when it looks like Obama might actually have an edge on them. I suspect that they've trotted out Cokie Roberts for her generic insights once again, and probably Mara Liasson has opined about how this is bad for Obama and a real boon for the Romney campl.
