I learned at a very young age that the police will do to you whatever they feel like doing to you, legal or not, if they think that they can get away with it...and I haven't trusted one ever since.

Even the ones that I'm related to.

Guy comes after a cop with a weapon, gets shot. That's pretty much cut-and-dried.

The rest though... Like the three in the title image? Need to be treated just like a rabid animal.

Which should have told them immediately that he was nuts, and not to shoot shoot shoot. A few cops could have taken him down with their bodies. They are public servants, not executioners.

I'm iffy on whether ten shots were needed, but to be truly honest, if somebody's going to slug at me with a pipe-bender (which is apparently what that was) I'm going to defend myself with what I have at hand, and I can't begrudge even a cop for doing the same. It's a very different situation from tazing a struggling child "for self-defense."

Perhaps other methods would have been effective (though their tazer wasn't, I guess both prongs didn't hit skin) and perhaps police should be trained to defuse and deflect, rather than to respond to violence with violence. That's a fair argument; other police forces in the world seem able to do this. But considering the situation, I'm not able to point my finger of blame too hard at this one.

Stress on this one. The rest of what's depicted is pretty obviously a case of needing Atticus Finch and his winchester on the scene.

but I'm not sure if I see him beginning to swing on a cop. I'll have to (try to) watch it again UGH...
