Climate activists in Paris for the UN Climate Summit plan a major day of action and peaceful demonstration this Saturday, Dec. 12 at 12 noon despite a ban on public protests by the French government after the Nov. 13 terrorist attacks.
"By taking to the streets, we will be clearly and unequivocally rejecting the Holland government's draconian and opportunistic bans on marches, protests and demonstrations" said Klein in her address to the UN Climate Summit COP21 on Monday, Dec. 7.
"Liberty is not just a word, and it doesn't just apply to Christmas markets and football matches. Indeed, it means nothing if it does not apply to political dissent and the defense of life on earth".
Naomi Klein is the author of the bestselling works "This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate" (2014) and "The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism" (2007).

OP
Thanks for this! Her first book "No Logo" is quite good too, even though some of it is outdated

I admire Naomi's convictions, writing and intellectual scope. We're so fortunate

(38,613 posts)1. Thanks for this! Her first book "No Logo" is quite good too, even though some of it is outdated
But in her case "outdated" means "things are actually worse now than when the book came out"

that she fights for the people and the planet (not a bank or corporation!). One of the greats among progressives for sure.

Her writing especially, perfectly describes things and their interrelationships without dumbing it down or being too confusing or boring.
