highways crumble and fall into disrepair, but gas guzzlers are flying out the showroom door.

Gas guzzler surtax on top of that...call it an Environmental Recovery Surcharge.

I'm paying up to $500 for 50 ton
deliveries under 100 miles round trip.
That's $5+ a mile fuel surcharge.

Needless to say, we do more with less
and the supplier sells less.

... it the government actually did anything to maintain highways. But that would be investing in infrastructure.

...the environment.

You're proposal should be more specific. I suggest a higher sales tax on car that have an estimated EPA below 25 mpg, and an even higher sales tax on those below 20 and 15.

Let's get rid of congress and replace them with the wealthiest:

The top fortune 100 get to be our 100 senators,
the next 435 richest can have the House seats.

After all, if debt collectors know how to run the IRS, then the richest corporatists should be able to just own the country.

and Attack the IRS and defund it--------------makes sense to me let 25 plus corporations pay nothing, use tax loop holes and pay nothing and then go after Joe and Mrs Joe Smoe to pick up the tab through this mess and outsource it----way to go-----why don't we just outsource the republican congress----------makes sense to me

There are mechanisms in place to reduce/eliminate tax debt in excess of $10,000.00. The adds consonantly play on the radio.
Those person most egregiously affected by this evil proposal are the one without an escape mechanism.

I firmly believe that Mr. Ryan would implement a process if he could;where people could be found lifetime unproductive and eliminated from society by the most cost effective means. And he would bill our families for the bullets.

Most Americans from all economic backgrounds drive to work, and probably from the same distances. An increased gas tax will produce higher relative pain to lower incomes than higher incomes. I thought DU was against that.

Plus gas prices aren't going to stay low. Every time gas prices plunge, some DUers/liberals/progressives with short attention spans call for increased gas taxes to raise the pump price right up again...as if oil prices will never go back up. WTF?!

How about raising income taxes on higher earners? Or raising sales taxes on new cars with low mpg(<25,20,15,etc.)?

They won't go after the ones that owe hundreds of thousands, mostly the ones that owe a few hundred, because the ones that owe a lot can afford lawyers and they will fight. The poor are easier to pick on, because no one will defend them.

Private debt Collectors. They approach and try to solve every problem with a sledge Hammer. Republicans are true fascists now, so approach everything heavy handed. If they ever come to power, no one, no one will be safe.
