A lot of psychologists now feel personality disorders are just more extreme behaviors on a spectrum that also includes "normal" ranges. That is, no gulf between ranges where traits are mild and allow normal functioning and ranges where traits are so strong as to be "abnormal." It's just that at some point a person's behavior makes it clear a dysfunction is strong and continuous enough to be classed as a disorder.

Narcissistic traits can give a person confidence to...start a business. And, yes, I've read that exact example in articles. Psychology has a way of making us all sound disordered.
