For those who have not been following the French election Sarkozy ran a despicable and highly personal campaign against Hollande. President bling-bling threw in some over the top race baiting as well in a desperate attempt to win a second term.

There is no traditional warm send off for Sarkozy here. Watch carefully at 1:10 as Hollande throws out the trash.

I like how the French say "Vive la France!", and leave "god" out of it.

2. Wow, Carla B. is a little casual for France, n'est pas?

If that were an American, they'd be raked over the fashion coals! Jeans and a tee shirt? Really? All she needs is a fanny pack and she could pass for a tourist!

It wasn't all that pleasant a day--the poor guy got rained on while cruising down the Champs, and when he took off to go see Angela Merkel, his plane crapped out and he had to return and take another plane, which made him late.

We'll see how it goes. I wish him the best, but he has an uphill climb.
