you have to do a federal background check and receive the firearm at an FFL dealer as a minimum under existing federal law. The only exception is if it is a private sale in the same state between individuals. Even then the state may require a background check as that is a state issue. So your big bold headline would be wrong.

Interesting they admitted they were Brady center employees and were told and knew the lawsuit would fail and went ahead with it anyway.

Unhindered by federal background checks or government oversight, the 24-year-old man accused of killing a dozen people inside a Colorado movie theater was able to build what the police called a 6,000-round arsenal legally and easily over the Internet, exploiting what critics call a virtual absence of any laws regulating ammunition sales.

And the victim's parents joined the Brady Campaign after their daughter was shot and killed, not before. So I'm not sure what your point is unless you're one of those crazy people who think it's a conspiracy and that the "gubmint iz comin to take yer gunz."

And the screaming headine in the OP was not true and I pointed it out. He bought non armor piercing ammunition and commuted murder. The companies followed the law and the Brady center along with that family sued to make a point as they admitted. They now have to pay the price for that point.
