Australian broadcaster airs documentary on the British establishment's protection of VIP paedophiles

This half hour documentary on the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) 60 Minutes program aired in Australia last weekend. (This ABC program has no connection to the CBS 60 Minutes program aired on US television.)

What's really appaling about this situation is that people like Jimmy Savile, Cyril Smith, Granville (Lord) Janner, Leon Brittan and others were known to be abusing kids for decades. A couple of other have been caught out e.g. Stuart Hall, Rolf Harris. Both are currently in prison.

Tom O'Carroll from the PIE is a sick bastard. Age of consent at 4???? At 10??? If he had a massive accident with a chainsaw, I'd be cheering for the chainsaw.

You will have noticed that 60 Minutes avoided naming names of living people explicitly. Britain's libel laws make such naming problematic. If I wrote an article stating that you, johny Canuck, were actually Jack the Ripper, you could sue me in England and I would have to PROVE that you were indeed JtR. If I failed to do so, I would have to give you lots of money even if what I said was true. (You're not 150 years old, are you?)

Minor correction re 60 Minutes. It's shown on the Nine network, also known as Channel 9 and ninemsn, not the ABC. It's a copy of the American version. I'm not sure what the relationship was when in started in Oz (1979) but it seems to be independent now.

To the best of my knowledge, the UK doesn't have a version of 60 Minutes, but hopefully another program will run with this.

Exaro has obtained a sensational statement by a former police officer who gave a detailed account of how he was arrested and his home raided in 1991 in an attempt to collect personal letters between Janner and a boy whom the influential politician is alleged to have sexually abused.

In his statement, Henning includes a series of staggering quotes from Leicestershire detectives who talked to him about Janner and child sex abuse in the run-up to the Beck trial. Janner was a backbench MP in Leicester from 1970 to 1997.

“We (police) have known about Janner and young boys for ages,” reports Henning in the statement. Officers told him that he “must be the only person in Leicester” who did not know, his statement said. Scotland Yard had “a file on him for abusing kids in Notting Hill”.
