Samantha Bee's Goodbye - from last night's 'Daily Show'

I just had to post this video. Last night was Samantha Bee's final appearance on The Daily Show. Jon proudly sung her praises and wished her well, with a healthy helping of good natured ribbing as one would expect. What struck me, touched me really, was when he introduced her one last time after showing a compilation package of some of her best work on the show. Sam, normally all smug, fake journalist and all that... came out on stage to a deafening roar from the crowd. And already crying. She just stood there and waved at everybody and cried. It was a really sweet moment I thought, and spoke so well of not only her affection for the show, but for Jon as well.

Time will tell I guess, I can't really comment too much cuz I only saw him on there once or twice, and honestly I wasn't paying too close attention. Did Jon have much/any input on this decision I wonder? Anyway, it might be a case that Sam just wanted to move on.

The thing that does make you turn your head (at least it does me) is the discovery of that crap the new D.S. host wrote on his Twitter feed a few years ago. Off colour commentary about Jews or something? Honestly, I forget... but I remember thinking at the time that what he wrote couldn't be shrugged off as a 'youthful indiscretion'. It was only like from 2011 or 12 or something.

They forgot that part of Craig Ferguson's quirky appeal wasn't that he was Scottish, it was that he was a Scottish IMMIGRANT who took citizenship and had a better grasp of American history than most "natural born" Americans.

I've never heard of this replacement DS guy, and what little I've seen isn't making me join his fan club. There's a fine line.

I do think they need to give more (North) American (after all, Samantha Bee is Canadian) women a shot. Hell, I'll settle for someone from this hemisphere!

No Joan Rivers to fight the good fight anymore on behalf of female comics.

I'm not sure of his status. Jessica Williams might be staying, but most of the older members (Colbert, Oliver, Jones & Bee) are now gone.

she was married to Jason Jones. What a lot of fun they must have.

I'll miss both of them. All of them.
