2. They're miserable little people, and want others to be as well.

You see this phenomenon most starkly in the pro-life crowd. Having once lived in the Deep South for some years, I can tell you that to most church ladies and bible thumpers the issue boils down to one thing:

"she screwed, she's screwed."

Forcing a woman to bear the unwanted child is just a form of revenge for them, nothing more. Once the baby's born, as we all know, those church ladies are often the same ones that support anything and everything that'll make the kid's life -and his family's- as awful as possible.

Sick people.
