Related: About this forumTYT: MSNBC's Chris Matthews Calls Netanyahu Speech A "Takeover Attempt"
"Cenk Uygur (http://www.twitter.com/cenkuygur) host of The Young Turks discusses the reaction of MSNBC pundit Chris Matthews to the speech made by Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. To say Matthews is less than pleased would be an understatement.
'Quite cross' might be a very dry way to describe the reaction of MSNBC pundit Chris Matthews to the recent speech made by Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the United States Congress. He saw the speech as an attempt to sabotage and undermine the nuclear negotiations between the U.S. and it's allies and Iran. Matthews has been quoted as saying, "This man, from a foreign government, walked into the United States legislative chamber and tried to take over U.S. foreign policy." This comes at a time of already strained relations between the Israeli Prime Minister and President Obama as we approach the Israeli elections on March 17,2015."
Do you agree with Matthews' opinions? Let us know in the comments section below.

(5,106 posts)Boehner should have been hammered into the ground for for this outrageous ploy, but that train has left the station. Democrats let the right moment pass them by.

(2,065 posts)And what do you call an invited takeover attempt such as this one? An act of treason or sedition on the part of the Republicans! President Obama, in collaboration with the State Department and the immigration authorities, probably could have exercised his constitutional right to refuse Netanyahu entry into the US. But then the Republican wingnuts would be calling him a tyrant and an enemy of free speech, a communist, a fascist, a dictator, or whatever other name they could pin on him. They might even call in the right wing militias or send commando squads of NRA gun nuts in to Washington! Heck, if Obama gets flack and condemnation from the Republicans even when he tries to be nice to them, he's intelligent enough to figure out what would be their probable reaction if he were to say, "Enough is enough!" and put his foot down.
And what do you call a situation in which a sitting US President finds himself threatened to the point of inaction and capitulation by the Republican right wing, who, by the way, are not the American majority who elected our president? I call it blackmail. But it will be widely perceived by world governments, and the world press, who are not as familiar with the American political situation as you and I are, as a simple case of spinelessness by President Obama not to assert his legal and rightful constitutional authority.
And as far as a takeover of the US government is concerned, if any country were in a position to stage one, it would probably be Israel. Those Republithug cretins only seem to respect ruthless authoritarian power, and have scant regard or respect for democracy - or the rule of law, or even the constitution itself, in spite of their pretentious and hypocritical claims to the contrary.
