this was one of the best video's from yesterday's Dr King Jr.s' march ( I wish it was longer) .. we ended at the State Capitol and there was vigil for recent police killing of Marcus Golden. During the long march we marched in silence.. for 4 minutes representing 4 hours Mike Brown's body was left in the street. and then at the end of the March.. we stood for many minutes, some with a fist up, some with peace sign up.. as they played "Glory" by John Legend and Common from the movie Selma.. I think I'll always tear up when I hear that song. I remember as a young kid seeing that image of a fist held up and knew it was about injustice and fighting for what is right. My childhood neighbor had a Chicano image of it, and other kids at school had it and I would try and draw it.. It meant strength, and solidarity.. I knew people were different and treated differently, but I didn't really understand racism yet.. I still thought i was part of "them". I learned a year or two later, I wasn't part of them.. and realized the concept of racism, and how unfair things were.
