George Takei
I've lived over seven decades, through a World War where we were put in camps because of our race to playing the Asian helmsman of the Enterprise, from the blossoming of the Stonewall riots to today, where we help carry the banner for marriage equality. Here is my story. I'm living proof that "It Got Better."
I would be honored if you watched and shared this video to help young people today gain some context for the great things that lie ahead for them, even if today seems bleak and hopeless. If you are and remain true to yourself, it really can and will get better.

From a happy home, to a Japanese internment camp, to skid row, nothing could stop George Takei from making it in Hollywood. Not even extreme prejudice. Watch as one of the most outspoken gay actors shares his story.

(40,416 posts)1. What a fucking awesome person!
George Takei is making a difference.
He also has the advantage of having rolled three sixes on charisma. Thank goodness.

(40,416 posts)4. Huh? What does that have to do with anything?
The fact is that he was a non-starring player in a TV series that lasted less than three years in the late 1960's. His celebrity status is based on both the fact of the series overwhelming popularity, in spite of the fact that he was featured in relatively few episodes during the many years of the many diverse story lines in the Star Trek universe, and that he is very outspoken on political and gender issues.
Is there something wrong with somebody using their fame as such?
