CNN did a segment on the video. If you go to the CNN website, or if you have the CNN app you should be able to see part of the segment.

Okay, I will have to be honest: That kind of thing *does* indeed happen on occasion.....but with that said, does this guy truly not realize that, many times, these things just happen, no matter how prepared the victim thinks she may be? And some women may be able to fight off their victimizers, but others can't.

The truth is, teaching women to be careful is still a good thing. But there really should be much more focus on teaching men to actually be more respectful to women in the first place, and also teaching them to be more careful in general(unfortunately, though, this doesn't actually happen nearly as much as it should); and yes, I do realize that the majority of men are rather decent and well-behaved.....I should know. But some others, not so much, perhaps especially not if they were raised in traditionally conservative households.

According to the best stats I could find, false accusations are perhaps 4-6%. So while they do happen, they're usually not over something like sex not "turning out the way they want" and it's an incredibly miniscule number.

who were so concerned about how being convicted of rape would ruin the future for those poor, dear boys in the Steubenville rape case? Well, this jackass is saying the same thing! He is fretting that a college student convicted of rape would have to serve jail time and not be able to finish college or have a successful career!

Jennings complained that new federal regulations for schools meant that students who were guilty of rape could be subject to jail time.

“When you allege that somebody did something of that nature to you, you go to jail. I don’t care how close they are to finishing the degree, their whole life changes overnight,” he said <emphasis added>.

Oh, the poor, dear rapists. How awful for them that committing rape should have such a negative impact on their lives!

Sheesh!

Rapists SHOULD have a serious change of life when they are convicted of sexual assault/rape. This rape apologist sounds as though he personally did something akin to rape and is still justifying behavior that is unjustifiable.

He should be fired immediately. How disgusting!

I don't like the content of this Robert R. Jennings (President of Lincoln University, Chester County, PA) message to these women. I don't care if they are women teachers or women students. If any of those women have ever been raped, I know how they felt during and after this "talk." They felt raped all over again. That was awful... he needs to be fired.

I can just imagine what he said to the men.

What he meant was that the women were not treated the way they wanted to be treated or expected to be treated after the sex was over. In his view, these women went into sex with these men expecting to have hours of hugging, kissing, and holding after the sex, but the men just wanted them to leave. So, the women went to the local police station and accused the men of rape to punish the men for using them(the women) for sex.

... but that was his "opinion." wasn't it? That's the most absurd thing I think I have ever heard. He should have been talking to the guys and not the gals. And if someone needed to talk to the gals, it damn sure shouldn't have been him, a MALE!

You are right. He should have been telling the men they should not be raping women and that they should not be putting themselves into positions where they could be accused of rape. He should have also told the men that sex was not a conquest if the woman involved was unable to consent, or refuse to consent.

and then blame young women for their own rapes because they had a few drinks. Before ANY college president is allowed to open his damned mouth about college rape, he needs to be FORCED to enforce drinking laws for all students. Then he can open his rat bastard trap.
