Sweden and Mexico sound especially good to me. When I was in my teens, my Dad and I spent Spring vacation with my grandmother in Arizona and we took the opportunity to visit Mexico. I loved the food, but totally freaked my Dad out when I had enchiladas for breakfast.

And a raw egg with soy sauce poured on rice and picked up with a wrapping of dried seaweed.

I have a passing familiarity with natto... and I can only guess you grew up eating it. There aren't too many adults who can be won over to the ... ummm... pleasures of natto. That stuff is not for the faint of heart.

(No offense intended, Yui.)

If you get it fresh (in Asia), and at the right stage, it's yummy. Almost like a creamy fruit ice cream, if that makes any sense. The ones sold over here have been frozen usually and don't taste nearly as good and stink-stink-stink!

I was reading a short piece on natto earlier and apparently it has all sorts of health benefits. Maybe I could be persuaded to eat it. But those sticky strands that extend off the tips of the chopsticks--oh my. I suppose I could close my eyes to that.

those strands are packed full of flavor. The beans are great, and that just adds to the flavor, kind of like putting honey on corn flakes.. the honey will strand like that when you put a spoon in cornflakes and milk and eat it!!!

And I once heard honey described as bee vomit. So I suppose I just need to get over my natto thing and give it a try.

I see your period, Yui, and raise you one semicolon.

(Okay, I need to take a break from the interwebs now. I'm getting silly.)
