This video presents material I had never seen before.

Just one observation from the disparity between RWNJ radio and progressive/liberal radio. The difference as to why is simple. Liberals think on their own. They don't need someone to tell them how to think or what to think, whereas the dog whistle brainwash types do need it. They crave it! It comforts their narrow views when they here someone like Rush or Palin speaking ideas they want to believe in.

I see things on DU (today for example...another thread) all the time that are driven by fear and ignorance, and some of the things I see are chilling.

It does seem to be more prevalent in conservatives. And I agree that a lot of it is driven by hate media. But liberals have "haters" too. Just not as many as conservatives.

This shows how much we need to educate the public, which makes it very difficult when the right wing controls most of the media. This is going to be a long process, but the hate for democracy that the right wing has can't be explained. When you want to stop people from voting such as changing laws to make it more difficult is not democracy it is fascism.

FAIRNESS DOCTRINE

we need to insist it get reinstated, NOW!

we can actually chart the proliferation of the hate radio phenomenon's escalation, and its effects, dating from its repeal back in the late 80s.

and note, right after obama was elected, the petrified fear in conservative ranks that it would be reinstated was everywhere! everywhere; they know the orwellian rule that he who controls info controls the world. but, the dems capitulated - bigger fish to fry, they said, healthcare and anti-torture and lily ledbetter and all that.

don't get me wrong, i strong support all these things. but, make no mistake, had the fairness doctrine been at the top of their list, the echo chamber that has dlyogged them in each of these and all other issues would be silenced.

think about it; pass it on.

12. As much as I like Mike Papantonio

and the spirit of his journalism, I find his presentation regarding the context of the Kennedy assassination somewhat alarmist.

I grew up in Oklahoma, hardly a bastion of liberalism - I didn't know many people from Texas - so I'm guessing on this. But my assumption is that Texas is like Oklahoma. The Oklahoma (Texas) culture is far more conservative/reactionary today than it was in the 60's. I was in a public school classroom when we got word of the Kennedy Assassination - and people were hardly applauding the way Papantonio describes it. In fact, my teacher and the principle were crying.

If the same situation happened today and say Obama got assassinated - God forbid - yes, I could see that happening in today's south. I couldn't see it happening in the 60's.

To listen to Papantonio talk about people in the south in this presentation, he sounds as extremist and uninformed as the people that he's criticizing.

14. If Mike Papantgonio says there was

a school where kids were applauding, I don't think he is the kind of guy to make stuff up, do you? If he said it was true, it was probably true some where. Considering his background and reputation, up to now, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He certainly does not try to stir up people's emotions like Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity.

I question whether or not he is guilty of hyperbole. The kind of one-shoe-fits-all portrait that he is painting here puts him in with the media/sloppy journalism bag with the other media divas.

As I cited in my post, Texas, especially in the 1960's was not full of Rick Perrys. Molly Ivins, Ann Richards, Jim Hightower got their start in Texas in the 1960's and on - within the 20th century the first 75 years of Texas governors were all Democrats. The Republicans didn't dominate Texas politics until 1979....

I watched about half of this presentation and, other than the anecdote about the flyers, there wasn't any history in it. I stand by my criticism.

(loose definition of the word "work", obviously...)

Does anyone think Obama would be alive today if that were the rule? Especially if it had been in place in 2008? Anybody think some Joe Wilson type would have taken a pop at him at some point? I don't think even bullet proof glass would be enough- The president would have to address Congress by remote.
