The Gordon Lightfoot, Joan Baez, Buffalo Springfield, Pete Seeger, Buffy St Marie? Today we have Hip-Hop and Gangsta Rap. Where are the troubadours and minstrels that sing the songs that can move a nation.

We Shall Overcome
Keep Your Eyes On The Prize
Universal Soldier
For What Its Worth
Big Muddy

Where are the songs for today?

Look for Steve Earl, who maintained my sanity through the Bush years with his album "The Revolution Starts Now!". There's Eliza Gylkinson (check out "Man of God" - a blistering indictment of W Bush),Tom Morello (who sang "This Land is Your Land" at the NY Occupy scene), David Rovics - ( who has a song about EVERY worthy cause). Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen are still performers with a conscience. Ry Cooder recently did "No bankers left behind" about the Wall Street bailouts...It's not so much the artists missing as the audience is asleep!

Perhaps as we speak, songs about senseless a racist murder are being written and performed. The present ain't a replay of the past, y'know.

that are decidedly right wing. There is no free press except on the internet....and even DU won't allow some truths to be discussed. That, and the liars are given equal time, as if what they have to say makes things "balanced".
