TYT: Kansas Gov Sam Brownback Fulfills Promise To Destroy Kansas

"Kansas has a problem. In April and May, the state planned to collect $651 million from personal income tax. But instead, it received only $369 million.

In 2012, Kansas lawmakers passed a large and rather unusual income tax cut. It was expected to reduce state tax revenue by more than 10 percent, and Gov. Sam Brownback said it would create "tens of thousands of jobs.""* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

...but one saving grace is that there are Republicans concerned about cuts to education. The one thing Republicans and Democrats can agree on here in Johnson County: education is still valued and needs proper funding.

Paul Davis is the Democrat challenging Brownback. He is looking good in the polls!

Brownback and Davis on education:

Davis, from "Project VoteSmart"
Education Issues
Indicate which principles you support (if any) regarding education.

Xa) Support state funding of universal pre-K programs.
Xb) Support federal education standards and testing requirements for K-12 students (No Child Left Behind).
Xc) Support state education standards and testing requirements for K-12 students.
d) Support requiring public schools to administer high school exit exams.
e) Allow parents to use vouchers to send their children to any public school.
f) Allow parents to use vouchers to send their children to any private or religious school.
Xg) Provide state funding to increase teacher salaries.
h) Support using a merit pay system for teachers.
Xi) Provide state funding for tax incentives and financial aid to help make college more affordable.
Xj) Support allowing illegal immigrant high school graduates of Kansas to pay in-state tuition at public universities.
k) Other or expanded principles

(I believe the "Xs" are positions from the list that Davis supports)

It could be that Davis will pull enough votes from moderate Republicans concerned about education that he'll beat Brownback in November!

From his re-election website, Brownback writes, "Help me stand up for Kansas against an over-reaching federal government. Join Lt Governor Colyer and I today."

Why not leave Colyer out of it and just say, "Join I today." Priceless.

Brownback should have written "Join Lt Governor Colyer and me today" instead of "Join Lt Governor Colyer and I today."

(if you were talking about only yourself, you woudn't say "join I today" - you'd say "join me today" - it's a way to double check proper usage)

Once again, the old dishonest Reagan bullshit, "If we cut taxes it will increase revenue."
