Krauthammer's Take: 'The Clock Has Run Out On Benghazi'

Krauthammer To GOP: Sorry, But It's Time To Move On From Benghazi

Charles Krauthammer, an influential conservative commentator, on Wednesday told Republicans to give up on Benghazi.

"Politically speaking the administration has won. They ran out the clock. If we had a select committee from the beginning, really had coherent hearings unlike what we’ve had, which were disjointed hearings that let all things sort of slip away, we really would have been somewhere. We would have gotten to the bottom of this. But as a political fact, this thing is done," he said on Fox News about congressional Republicans' many investigations into how the Obama administration handled the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.

Sens. John McCain (R-AZ), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Wednesday held a press conference on Benghazi. Last month, the same three senators called for a Select Committee to investigate Benghazi, but Krauthammer said it's time for them to let it go.

"Unfortunately you only have a certain amount of time, a certain amount of attention, and the clock has run out on Benghazi," he said Wednesday.

Republicans did not do the best job running their investigation, Krauthammer said...................

The whole "controversy" was a case of teh GOP inventing something out of whole cloth anyway.

Romney was the first to exploit it, within hours. Makes me wonder if the whole thing was planned by GOP. Have the Anti-muslim film come out on 9/11 knowing something would happen. Blame it on Obama.

Of course their war mongering and torture had NOTHING to do with their moral authority (not to mention their open racism) and their crashing the entire world's economy and lowering everyone's standard of living to enrich the already rich had nothing to do with their credibility on financial matters.

The Bush Administration bombs and invades everything that moves, wastes trillions of dollars on pointless wars etc. Putin invades South Osettia; North Korea develops and tests an atom bomb.

So, if they're going to try argue that the Obama/Kerry policy of exercising smart power is a failure because Putin invaded Ukraine, and Iran is developing an atom bomb (which they've offered to suspend), they haven't got a leg to stand on. (However, the GOP doesn't need a leg to stand on. Just a mountain of hypocrisy, and a base of supporters with the collective memory span of a goldfish.)

GOP to keep flogging this faux scandal, and then as soon as he finishes talking, Brett "Cheetah" Baeir immediately jumps right back into it with his video clip. These clowns literally can't stop themselves from jumping at this catnip. It must be very frustrating for Krauthammer to be the only conservative with half a brain, and have to spend all of his time explaining to the lemmings why it's a bad idea to keep charging off the cliff; all to no avail.

Part of his "clock" problem was that the nature of the alleged scandal kept jumping around as RWers kept latching onto one thing or another to keep it going.

Don't blame the clock for the rest of us not seeing your hallucination.
