(8,462 posts)1. The Putin regime has zero credibility when complaining about "fascists"
Putin's own brand of brownshirts and State Police are running roughshod over portions of the Russian population who don't conform to Russian Orthodox Church standards or who oppose his tyrannical rule.

can claim the moral authority (if it ever could) to lecture other countries about their domestic issues....Many states within the US discriminate against LGBT as much as Russia.

(83,334 posts)7. That is such a painful picture to see, MNBrewer.
By putting the governments stamp of approval on rampant Russian homophobia, Putin effectively declared open season on gay people. As the Harvard study notes, violence against gays in Russia isnt considered violence at all; rather, its thought of as a way for young males to prove their own heterosexualitywhile simultaneously cleansing society of an aberrant, pedophilic community.
A way to prove a young males own heterosexuality? They are that insecure that they need to bully and beat on someone different than they are? Dear Gawd, that's the way they want to cleanse society? I think they need to take a long look in the mirror!
