He's not saying that space makes no sense. he's saying that within a black hole, space makes no sense In a field of infinite gravity, every atom - every particle occupies the exact same "space" as every other particle within that point of infinite gravity. Which means there really is no such thing as "space" at all within the black hole.

Which is still an amazingly fascinating idea, isn't it?

Go check out pre-black hole objects like neutron stars.

There you have compression so tight that it overcomes the usual repulsive forces so electrons are bonding with protons.
