3. I always forget how much he looks like Chevy Chase

And this is not his best song by far. Try "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park," "I take your hand in Mine," or "Smut."

5. 50+ years ahead of his time

Me - as a catholic I loved "The Vatican Rag" - my parents definitely did not.

'First get down upon your knees
fiddle with your rosaries
bow your head in great respect and
genuflect, genuflect, genuflect............

6. So, couple issues...

This is pretty old...3 Billion humans on Earth?

Are some of us getting a little nostalgic for the mutually assured destruction? Maybe the Russians on the Move has struck a chord of the "good ole days"...y'know, the Cold War and all. Now frankly, the threat of thousands of nukes blasting never made me feel at all good...but in those simpler times we didn't hear about GMOs, Global Climate Change, NSA spying on everything, or Citizens United wholesale corruption of our democratic "process".

Well, anyway, the song didn't make me feel any better, maybe for some it did...

8. I don't think it was supposed to make you feel better

any more than Dr. Strangelove was, or any other satiric work for that matter. Dark but humorous takes on MAD, to use an acronym of the day.

Anyway, I've always loved Lehrer's songs--thanks to dipsydoodle for this blast from the past
