1. He heroically speaks there sans sunglasses!

Looks painful to me (I don't go anywhere without my shades on a sunny day, much less in the middle of a field of glaring solar panels on a brutally sunny day!).

7. He's on a campaign stop

He can never wear sunglasses when campaigning. People have to see his eyes. A speaker's effectiveness is reduced by half or more if people cannot see his eyes.

8. My wife works as a corporate "coach" in San Diego

One of her clients is Sempra and, specifically, the man that was in charge of building that plant. When the Obama called Sempra and wanted to set up the tour, they set it up with a bunch of Sempra bigwigs, and they forgot to include this guy. He was the overall manager of its construction, and they didn't include him for the President's visit.

She happened to be in his office the day of the event and they didn't get much done. He was pissed. He said, "Look, I know I have a reputation for taking things personally, but..." My wife assured him that, no, he had a right to be pissed.

Turns out it was merely oversight, because it was built a couple of years ago and they selected the people from the team presently running it. He has moved on to other construction projects. Still...
