Sadly, we do have scientifically illiterate kids. Way too many. Which is why every damn election is important.

1. Proof love is real...

Seeing a sun conure close it's eyes as it smears it's face against my finger like a cat.

2. Bill Nye an excellent job in that debate.

Bill was very calm methodical not at all condescending. I could tell he was really working hard to make sure he didn't come across as the jerk scientist. I believe he succeeded. I believe we need more of that.

3. Great video, and I agree that we need our children to be educated regarding science, but ...

... what's that got to do with elections? Right now we have a Democratic President who keeps Arne Duncan on as Secretary of Education and here in Wisconsin, the Democratic candidate for Governor is a major backer of private charter schools?

5. I didn't know that about Burke.

She just lost the teacher vote. And that was a huge part of the recall vote.

I know half a dozen who will vote against her for that alone. Or not vote at all because of that being one of THE most important issues.

6. The belief is...

that to listen to a scientist or any other expert in contradiction from the Bible read literally is to be tempted by Satan. If it is confusing it is from Satan. The only way to avoid temptation is to avoid anything as labeled from Satan.

It is much harder to win that argument then it is to change a mind open and unafraid.

8. Yet Bill Maher is an anti-science loon.

He is against vaccinations and says the germ theory of disease is bogus, citing the discredited "Pasteur on his deathbed" tale.
