Cat barks like a dog until it's caught and then meows...

I think cats are plotting to take over the world. The only thing holding them back is that opposable thumb thing.

5. I think you comment is exactly the truth!

I've had nightmares of my cats growing opposable thumbs. As it stood, they were WAY too able to open and get into things that should have taken a degree of opposable thumbness to accomplish!

8. I've heard a few cats bark in my day, but generally they are QUITE angry when they are doing it.

And they didn't do that steady repeated barking like this cat.

9. I love this video, it's one of the top ones

The transition to "Hey, I'm still a little pussycat!" is what makes it.

15. My cat came running in when I played this video.

She still seems upset.

(Another artfully designed strategy prematurely exposed by the humans!)

17. My thought was that she was doing it to scare other cats away.

Cats are clever creatures, and they don't like other cats coming into their teritory.

18. In all seriousness . . .

They don't like each other much at all. They also have no respect for us, but then why would they?

20. I saw a science experiment in England

Where a team of people fitted cats from a village with GPS collars and tracked the movement of all the cats in a vilage....I wish I could remember where I saw it.

But it was fascinating at how the cats dealt with each other...mostly they had strategies to avoid conflict with other cats and they had a variety of ways to do it.
and that is what came to mind when I saw the vedio...
Oh wait, I found it.

I liked this experiment so much I think it should be shared among those that find things like this interesting.

27. Probably the UK

They seem to be the ones that think things like cat behavior is important enough to study.
In the USA there is no money in it, so it is not important.
But if cats were able to chose what cat food you buy for them then you would see a torrent of research into what makes them tick.

16. I've never heard a cat bark that many times

and if he/she wasn't made aware of someone in the room seems like the cat would have continued barking - LOL

And then once he/she realized that - wasn't alone - slowly bark turned into a meow. I hope Animal Planet put that in the running for the most cutest - LOL

22. My cat does the EXACT same thing - it's REALLY loud!

However, I've never actually seen him "barking" as he hides behind the couch, then when I come into the room, he comes out, looks at me and says "meow?" in a sweet little cat voice.

Would make me crazy if it weren't so funny!

29. We had a cat who chirped when watching

birds feed outside at the feeder. We think he thought he could fool them and then get fast food for dinner.
