3. There are definitely several messages in there - all make good points together.

We are only a couple steps away from a police state where people are pulled off trains, some separated out, and the rest of the passengers go on to their destinations. Most, probably won't even think about what just happened because it happened to someone else.

This sort of thing will happen if we get into another "optional war," a war with Syria and/or Iran, a war that spreads and comes home where we can't pretend that the war is happening somewhere else, far, far away.

That commercial has the same dreadful, prescient feel for me as the film "Children of Men."

10. We already have goon squads watching the metro in DC

I think they are in NYC also.

The ones I've seen personally aren't the projection of Officer Friendly at all.

4. I was immediately reminded of this quote/paraphrase:

"Pastor Niemöller spoke for thousands and thousands of men like me when he spoke (too modestly of himself) and said that:

when the Nazis attacked the Communists, he was a little uneasy, but, after all, he was not a Communist, and so he did nothing;
and then they attacked the Socialists, and he was a little uneasier, but, still, he was not a Socialist, and he did nothing;
and then the schools,
the press,
the Jews,
and so on, and he was always uneasier, but still he did nothing.

And then they attacked the Church, and he was a Churchman, and he did something--but then it was too late."
as quoted here: http://www.history.ucsb.edu/faculty/marcuse/niem.htm

I would trade 1,000 9/11's for all of the rights that the citizens of this country continue to willingly allow to be diluted, made conditional or flat out stripped away. The fact of the matter is this - my outspoken nature and unwillingness to 'go along to get along' will eventually land me on a list of undesirables or "unpeople" in the current trajectory of American governance anyway, but I will be damned twice over if I am going to go along with ANY more of this crap. This far, and no further dammit!

President Obama can either veto the latest atrocity of a Defense bill or he can kiss my ass and hope enough people stay with him to retain power, but my vote is inalienably tied to this issue - either you are a President who defends the rights of the people or you are a corporate lackey and power hungry sell out. There is no gray area here to parse any more. Its all in or all over.

6. Funny, I never saw it before now.

But, I don't watch much MTV.

One of the most powerful 30 second spots I've ever seen. Not surprised if TPTB decided to pull it off the air quickly.

Too many strong mixed messages, and none of them good for the corporate One Percent and the National Security Statists.

7. That a police state is coming upon us very rapidly was evident already in 2008.

8. funny, when I go to "think.mtv.com" -- which is what is referenced at the end of the video,

it redirects to "act.mtv.com" and the content is much, much less provocative than this vid.

12. nice!

Thats pretty edgy,provocative and sadly timely. And I thought the only good thing MTV ever did was bring us the Jack-ass franchise (which I do love).
