4 Quebec cops caught on camera beating the crap out of a suspect laying spread-eagled on the ground

#!

The officers had been called to a suspected robbery at a pharmacy in the Normanville district of Trois-Rivières early Friday morning.

The four officers then chased a suspect to an area near the Trois-Rivières CÉGEP.

It was what happened during the arrest that has brought the officers' conduct into question.

Trois-Rivières city spokesman, Yvan Toutant, would not confirm what the police are suspected of doing.

He said police officials received information about the arrest which is not consistent with the police report.

According to Toutant, the officers have been suspended in the interest of transparency.

1. That's what you get for perping during their Donut break.

The perp did everything to avoid conflict. He knew he was caught. So, why the beating, other than the cops are utter assholes.

Life in Canuckistan.

One of my uncles was a Mountie. He was forced to retire from the RCMP for trying to prevent another officer from beating a suspect during an interrogation. He had been a POW in WWII, captured at Dunkirk. Spent the whole War in a German camp. He said it was just like what the Nazis did.

4. Of course, I'm glad these law officers were caught in the act

That said - and assuming there wasn't any audio with the camera that caught them - I'd like to be enlightened as to just what the dubbed music track adds to video like this? Maybe it's nit-picky, but I feel my emotions are being insulted with the elevator music. Not that I'd find any other sort of music more acceptable, it just grinds on me that everyone wants to be a producer with every meaningful or stupid video they post.

16. You're not being "nit-picky"...

I agree with you that the dubbed music was beyond superfluous to the video, and distracted attention from the police brutality that was being depicted... IMO

7. My parents owned a neighborhood bar off the Las Vegas strip in the early 80s

One night there was a robbery at the nearby Stop And Go market and the robber came into the bar, put his revolver on the counter and ordered a drink. No one moved. The police came in looking for the robber and searched everywhere, the booths, behind the counter, the restrooms, the kitchen, the storage room. There were about four of them but somehow they didn't notice the guy at the bar having a drink with a revolver in front of him and his arms raised in the air to surrender. When they left, my uncle sneaked out the back to inform them of their blunder. They waited for the guy to leave the bar. They handcuffed him, put him face down on the pavement, and then all four of them started kicking the living crap out of the guy. It went on for a couple of minutes.

10. I would think this is more in line with LAPD than a department in Canada.

Must be a virus or something.

11. Canadian conservatives have been trained up by US Rethuglicans for years.

This was big during the ?ush years. I imagine they received copies of 'how to militarize you're police units' as well. I have tried for a decade to warn my Canadian friends to no avail. Very sad but the folks up north are just slightly behind our Lord of the Flies style of government!

17. Station 10 in Montreal is legendary for this kind of thing.

They've been doing it for decades. I witnessed it in the 1970s.

I saw them ramming a guy's head repeatedly into the side of a metal desk, over and over, while he pleaded like a child for mercy. Blood was all over his head.

Je me souviens.

14. Criminals in uniform (story update)

"Vadeboncoeur’s lawyer, Rene Duval, has said he may seek to sue the Trois-Rivières police officers in civil court." (me: should be in criminal court)

More about what's next in: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/video-showing-alleged-police-brutality-in-quebec-captures-international-attention/article8978603/

These criminals in uniform must be fired.

15. Wow, what are the odds the four police officers who showed up were all

corrupt? I'm guessing the odds were really, really good.
