Did we learn anything from Iraq?

On the heels of Rachel Maddow's "Hubris," Gil Smart wonders if the nation learned anything from the Iraq debacle - or whether we'll be just as eager to rush into the next dumb war.

1. They learned that they can get away with anything,

and that there is no effective organized opposition to the plutocracy.

2. I questioned the Iraq war right from the get go

I knew in the first week of Bush's presidency that he was dying to get into another war with Iraq, and after 9/11 I was seeing the writing on the wall.

It wasn't until several years later that I first became aware of that quote by Hermann Goering- and it totally blew me away. Read that quote and think back to 2003. It's like a blueprint for the way the Bush Administration handled the war; right down to Dick Cheney comparing anti-war factions to Nazi appeasers and terrorist sympathizers.

5. The Bush Whitehouse used that NYT reporter Judith Marshall by feeding her

erroneous (ok, false) information about WMD and then referencing the same sources in their speeches to the US people. I don't know if she was paid but the whole thing has a criminal aroma about it.
