3 million hits in a week-Dr. Carson Prayer Breakfast speech

The evangelicals are going crazy for this guy. The 2 main political ideas he presented which has the GOP giddy is a 10% flat tax, repealing Obamacare and giving everybody a Health Care Savings account at birth, which can be handed down to inheritors.

What we need to do is come up with something simple. And when I pick up my Bible, you know what I see? I see the fairest individual in the universe, God, and heís given us a system. Itís called a tithe. . . . We donít necessarily have to do 10% but itís the principle. He didnít say if your crops fail, donít give me any tithe or if you have a bumper crop, give me triple tithe. So there must be something inherently fair about proportionality. You make $10 billion, you put in a billion. You make $10 you put in one. Of course youíve got to get rid of the loopholes. Some people say, ĎWell thatís not fair because it doesnít hurt the guy who made $10 billion as much as the guy who made 10.í Where does it say youíve got to hurt the guy? He just put a billion dollars in the pot. We donít need to hurt him. Itís that kind of thinking that has resulted in 602 banks in the Cayman Islands. That money needs to be back here building our infrastructure and creating jobs.

Hereís my solution: When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record, and a health savings account to which money can be contributedópretaxófrom the time youíre born Ďtil the time you die. If you die, you can pass it on to your family members, and thereís nobody talking about death panels. We can make contributions for people who are indigent. Instead of sending all this money to some bureaucracy, letís put it in their HSAs. Now they have some control over their own health care. And very quickly theyíre going to learn how to be responsible.

3. Apparently, he didn't mention the whole price to US taxpayers, which includes Social Security, but

then not mentioning the REAL costs of things is what Republicans DO, their reason for existence, profits.

4. "...a health savings account to which money can be contributed..."

When you lose your job, where does this money come from?

And if you're working paycheck-to-paycheck is it any easier?

5. Of course, we'll still need to take care of people

who contribute zero anyway, so...

Another bad idea from the GOP.

6. God gave us tithing? And thank god a brain. How is tithing more fair for the poor than the IRS Code?

Tax issues are too complex, and a fairer application is tithing... Don't get me wrong... But the Vatican Bank vs IRS.... I don't see how either is more just or fair for the working people...

How is HSA more economical than Universal health care....

These sound like Parables and tools for the rich....

9. The health care provider system will devise a way to give care to whom ever they choose.

Let's say a billionaire and an indigent person are rushed to the hospital for a burst appendix and there is only one doctor available. The indigent person arrives first. Who gets the surgery? And how much does the doctor get paid?

Or let's say that both accounts have to be the same. Now the billionaire is way below equal contribution to an equatable health account: so the taxpaying poor and middle class are funding the health care of the wealthy as well as the poor.

America is NOT FLAT anything. There is nothing equitable in America. We have millions and millions of people who are not the same. Our society is completely different from the times of Proverbs.

12. 10% and God

God didn't tell the ancients anything of the sort, it was the Egyptian priest-class who demanded the 1/10 . In the old days, you were either the royal elite, in the religious class, or part of the vast unwashed who supported the other two classes. The priests needed that slice of the pie to exist, build their temples, support their life style. They even had their own temple soldiers and warehouses to gather and store that 1/10. Eventually they became so rich that they could dictate national policy (remind you of anything?). And the Hebrews during their "stay" in Egypt, learned that religion needs a kick-back to exist. God don't need no stinking 10%, He's got it all.

15. Jesus said "render to Ceasar that which is Ceasar's". In other words pay your taxes.
