Rebels say Hezbollah, Iraqi fighters flooding into Syria - while Obama....deliberates (?)

AMMAN, Jordan Syrian rebels outside Damascus said Tuesday that thousands of Hezbollah and Iraqi fighters are massing on the outskirts of the capital in what appears to be a prelude to a large-scale ground invasion against towns they have held for months.

"Planes are dropping off fully armed fighters from Hezbollah and the Iraqi Fadl Brigades," said opposition activist Abu Yasser.

Hezbollah is a Lebanon-based terrorist group; the Fadl Brigades are Iranian-trained Shiite Muslim militants from Iraq. Both groups are likely destined for the fight in al-Qusayr, a town near the Lebanese border that is at the center of the rebels' supply routes for ammo and fighters, Yasser said.

The rebels have held the town for more than a year and have been defending their position against the Syrian military for weeks.

"People are concerned over a large-scale massacre once they capture al-Qusayr," he said.

Say, Mr. PResident, if we wait long enough there won't be any of the Syrian rebels left to help out. Problem solved!!

... uh, but what about a united Assad lead Syria, Hesbollah and Iran..... see any problems there????

1. Yeah but if you ignore it until it becomes a full blown shitstorm, then you HAVE TO send troops ...

... and when troops are mobilized, the MIC makes money.

2. Sounds like al-Qusayr has already fallen.

Don't know about any massacres since the fall but it wouldn't surprise me, given the way things seem to work over there.

5. Either the Rebels

are lying or President Assad lied in his interview. Their claim is thousands of Hezbullah and Iraqi fighters are parachuting in around Aleppo. There is no doubt Assad claimed after the Syrian Army took Quisar, the Syrian Army was going to start the offensive to take Aleppo. Assad claimed that he had hundreds of thousands of Syrian Troops. Before the Civil War beganned, the Syrians had near 300,000 active duty soldiers and another 4 to 500,000 in reserve.
The claim is the opposition has 140,000 fighters, including deserters of the Syrian Army and Foreign fighters. That number also includes Kurdish fighters who are holding their own territory.

Assad claims there are about only 4,000 Hezbal fighters, that is fighting beside the Syrian Army. I seen the video of Syrian ground troops with tanks moving in Quisar. One village in the area was surrounded by 15 Syrian Tanks, not Hezbullah fighters. The Syrian Army has thousands of Tanks and they are not under or manned by Hezbullah. They have several armored Divisions with commanders. They are trying to present the face of these offensives as Hezbullah, but the Syrian Armed Forces are carrying the main offensive.

All of those troops and Commanders aren't Alawites either. Many are Sunni that hasn't deserted. A good number of Assad's cabinet is Sunni also. The Prime Minister of Syria is a Sunni and so is their Defense minister. He also has Christians in his Cabinet. The commander of the rebels who deserted, was only a Brigadier General.
