Seeing is Believing

Go see Chasing Ice if you get the chance. I'd go see it again. Here's an excerpt from a pretty good summary of the movie. You probably should read the whole thing. You can read it here at Politics of the Environment I'm not sure I'd spend the evening with a climate change denier but Ben is way more tolerant and laid back than I am.

If you have a friend or acquaintance who is a climate change skeptic or denier, do them a favor and treat them to dinner and a movie. Find out where James Balogís documentary Chasing Ice is screening near you and take them to see it. At worst, you will have a nice meal and spend an hour and fifteen minutes watching a real-life story of determination, effort and passion that is inspiring. At best, you may be able to cut through the political fog that surrounds the issue of climate change and open the eyes of someone to the transformation of our planetís climate that is taking place right now. Without a doubt you will see some of the most stunning and beautiful photography ever put on film. It would be difficult for any thinking person to walk out of this movie without believing that climate change is real.

I saw it in Asbury Park and if there were 30 people in the place it was a lot. Its a shame because it is a beautiful movie. Pretty disturbing too. But, I'll be optimistic and believe that the message of the movie can spread. I guess everyone was off seeing Breaking Dawn Part II.

1. Awesome Film!

Its always going to be hard to get people to pay attention to movies like this just like its hard to get people to think about climate change or any other issue that requires complex rational thought. I do agree that if you have somebody who is a climate change skeptic, take them to see this movie-If you can get them to go with you. It will change their minds. However, anyone who has an open mind probably isn't a climate change denier anyway. People who turn to Hannity or Limbaugh for their information on climate change, well, I'd have trouble having dinner with them too.

2. I suppose that there's reason for hope

If this woman is being honest, then maybe its not impossible to change the minds of Faux Nation
