The Sins of General David Petraeus

More so than any other leading military figure, Petraeus’ entire philosophy has been based on hiding the truth, on deception, on building a false image. “Perception” is key, he wrote in his 1987 Princeton dissertation: "What policymakers believe to have taken place in any particular case is what matters — more than what actually occurred."
Yes, it’s not what actually happens that matters — it’s what you can convince the public it thinks happened.

1. Hey everyone -

If you don't read anything else about Gen. P at least read this one.

2. Petraeus is the ultimate example...

...of the political general. Not the kind of guy you'd count on to actually win battles, and you sure as hell wouldn't want to turn your back on him...

3. "Perception management," as the military itself called it...

...so fucking disgusting. Props to Noam Chomsky for so plainly laying it bare for the general public. His documentary Manufacturing Consent should be required viewing. Century of the Self was another good one:

5. Wow, interesting article.

Makes one question if Petraeus gave classified docs to Dan Senor knowing that these would be passed on to Romney. Senor went silent after second debate. Affair may be a smokescreen.

6. Great article

All those lives, all those lies, all that mis-spent capital.

Move-on was right. Wish Betray-Us and Bush-Co could be made to pay for their real crimes.

8. This isn't over yet. Broadwell is on video

disclosing information not yet privy to the MSM during an alumni speech she gave last month.
Petraeus knew he was under investigation, many knew. They keep saying a crime wasn't committed,
but if he disclosed classified intelligence to Broadwell, a crime was committed.

7. Yes, but let me tell you, this is what these war lovers always do.

Vietnam was just chock full of these guys, and the kicker is they are usually really incompetent, lousy soldiers.
