Auschwitz to be drilled for gas
Auschwitz to be drilled for gas
Posted on November 8, 2012 by fred The sickening heedlessness of the contemporary fossil fuel industry is highlighted by the revelation that Scottish driller Dart Energy – with 22 coal bed methane wells in planning in Scotland – is also exploring for gas “not a stone’s throw” from the Nazi death camp of Auschwitz, Poland. It is perfectly possible Dart is drilling under the death camp itself – in Scotland the company’s underground boreholes are due to reach up to 2km long. http://frack-off.org.uk/auschwitz-to-be-drilled-for-gas/ The blog linked to in the article, written by a gas industry exec, is very interesting and well written: http://eytanuliel.com/2012/01/10/you-say-oswi%C8%A9cim-i-say-auschwitz/ The blog is dated from much earlier in the year, 1/10/12, so I'm unclear if this drilling project is a done deal, or still in the works.

2. My daughter was at Auschwitz a few years ago
|
She decided to take a walk in the woods behind it and started noticed a grey powder was getting all over her shoes. When she bent down to see what it was, she finally realized what it was. Yes, even 60 something years later. How much of the public knows this?
Horrible, horrible, that they are doing this on people's graves. |

The past specially when it come to world war two is clearly visible in places like Auschwitz - who still is a grave for millions, who disappeared between 1941 and 1944... It is maybe one of the places where the shear volume of history is clearly in the days - and if you just image it, you can se the ghosts of the ones who once walked the pathways - was killed and murdered by the ten of thousands every week... Just ignorants don't understand what Auschwitz means... The germans did their best to kill of as many as they could in the time they had... I think your daughter got a experience for the rest of her life - what the gray stuff really was, is something she will have learned to fight against.. Diclotican |

3. This is nothing short of desecration of graves.
|
If the Polish government allows this to go forward it will only confirm that the country's indifferent at best and openly fratricidal at worst attitude towards Jews and Jewish dead hasn't changed since the 1940's.

This is not good at all - I strongly believe that places like Auschwitz should not be exploited for energy at least not gas... This is just evil - and I hope the polish government say no to this plan.. But then again, the ugly polish racism is still rather clearly - and even though the KZ camp, and the death camp inside it, would not be able if it was not for the germans - the outright racism from polish when it comes to jews is even today clearly to everyone who look to see.. I agree with you that this is not good at all. I was shocked when I read the article, which is why I posted it. I, too, hope this plan doesn't come to pass.
The energy industry seems to have no scruples at all. grntuscarora, in

It is disgusted to even think about digging for gas, under one of the most horrible seminaries in the world - a place where millions perished in worst thinking fashion, just because they was who they was - not because they did something wrong... he energy industry should be stooped, by the polish government - or by EU, who should tell their polish counterparts to behave - or else.. 6. They would drill under Arlington Cemetery if they could. The gas industry is totally amoral.
