Jeff Greenfield says the image of an incompetant Government is the DEMOCRATS problem to overcome..

In his piece, The parable of the blue cup: What Nancy Pelosi says is the problem with Democrats Jeff Greenfield says the Democrats will have to overcome a perception out there among the public that the Government can't do anything right, to take back the majority status in teh House of Representatives. Certainly, the message that the Government is the enemy, and incompetant is the Republicans favorite chant.

Actually, I agree with the Republicans that Government is incompetent or worse ----- whenever THEY ARE RUNNING IT (and the nation) INTO THE GROUND.

I think Mr. Greenfield discounts the public's ability to remember that Republican philosophies of Cutting Taxes - without regard for the needs of the country, shifting the tax burden from the wealthiest in our country to the middle class (reducing aggregate demand and job growth), and let's not forget DEREGULATION - produced the GREATEST ECONOMIC DISASTER THIS COUNTRY HAS SEEN since the (First) Great Depression - The REPUBLICAN DYSTOPIA we are only just now beginning to dig out of (four months of strong growing auto sales, unemployment inching downward) - despite the massive efforts by the GOP to sabotage every effort of the President and Dems to stimulate the economy out of this Trickle-Down Deregulation catastrophe.

All the Republicans are saying they will pursue the same disastrous policies of over-taxing the middle class to the benefit of the wealthiest in the country and deregulation at every turn. Why do they think this will produce any result different than this REPUBLICAN DYSTOPIA we've been digging out of for the last few years? .... oh, there I go expecting Republicans to THINK! My Bad!
