From the Guardian UK: Leaked Heartland Institute documents pull back curtain on climate scepticismLast edited Fri Feb 17, 2012, 01:00 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1)

"The document entitled "2012 Climate Strategy" (pdf) is also already getting lots of attention. It shows that Heartland will "increase climate project fundraising" by "pursuing additional support from the Charles G. Koch Foundation" who "returned as a Heartland donor in 2011 with a contribution of $200,000". It adds: "Other contributions will be pursued for this work, especially from corporations whose interests are threatened by climate policies." The funding of climate sceptic thinktanks in the US by corporate vested interests such as the Koch brothers has almost become a cliché, but here we have cast-iron proof of its influence, intent and extent. Perhaps more unsettling is the document's revelation that Heartland is actively developing a "Global Warming Curriculum for K-12 Classrooms": Principals and teachers are heavily biased toward the alarmist perspective. To counter this we are considering launching an effort to develop alternative materials for K-12 classrooms. We are pursuing a proposal from Dr. David Wojick to produce a global warming curriculum for K-12 schools. Dr. Wojick is a consultant with the Office of Scientific and Technical Information at the U.S. Department of Energy in the area of information and communication science. His effort will focus on providing curriculum that shows that the topic of climate change is controversial and uncertain - two key points that are effective at dissuading teachers from teaching science. We tentatively plan to pay Dr. Wojick $100,000 for 20 modules in 2012, with funding pledged by the Anonymous Donor. The co-ordinated effort to undermine the teaching of climate science in US classrooms has been noted before, but this still takes the breath away. Let's just repeat that sentence so it can be fully digested: "His effort will focus on providing curriculum that shows that the topic of climate change is controversial and uncertain - two key points that are effective at dissuading teachers from teaching science." This story has been posted in LBN, GD and who knows where else, and so far no one seems to comprehend the significance... So, I am trying to keep the story alive here. BHN

And NADA abou this story on ANY news channels including Current TV, Democracy Now, Thom Hartmann, or ANY "progressive" programming. I am thoroughly disgusted by the media black out on ALL programs. Especially the ones you would think would be the ones to run with it. WTF??? BHN |

Last edited Fri Feb 17, 2012, 06:34 AM USA/ET - Edit history (2) They would have the earth spiral into traumatic and unpredictable weather patterns just so they can make a few MORE bucks.
They would brainwash our children just so they can continue to pollute our planet with abandon so they can make a few MORE bucks. How conniving and treacherous can you get? I think these people rank right up there with the most traitorous people in History. And they are doing it simply to make a few more bucks. and demand that their children not be taught lies.
If they want to develop that shit for children, then let the home schoolers use it. |

12. Agree 100%!!!!
|
If the home schoolers want to buy the curriculum, let them.
But should the curriculum be forced by ALEC legislation into public schools, taxpayers should demand to be exempt from paying for it. BHN |

additional support from Koch, et. al, will assuredly mean that global climate change is NOT a threat to the continuation of our entire species!
