George H.W. Bush was designed to delay release of the hostages so Reagan could take the credit. Marco Rubio is the same tired GOP nonsense in a slightly younger package. So much for his fresh new approach.

It would be better to bring up the 1983 Beirut bombings. It is too easy for Republicans to claim that a bunch of liberal professors and media people are lying to protect Jimmy Carter. They cannot blame Jimmy Carter, or liberals for the Beirut bombing, or for President Reagan's response.

On October, 23, 1983, two years after Ronald Reagan had been elected President, two truck bombs exploded in Lebanon. One of those bombs exploded at the building housing American military personnel. That bombing killed 241 American servicemen(220 Marines, 18 Sailors, and 3 Soldiers) and injured 128 servicemen. On February 7, 1984 President Reagan ordered American troops to withdraw from Lebanon. The withdrawal was complete by February 26, 1984.
