COMMENT RE: 7-part polio series (embedded link)

As a former EPA research microbiologist who has investigated outbreaks of infectious diseases associated with exposures to combinations of heavy metals, pesticides and infectious agents, I found your article to be superbly written and extremely interesting. I have never understood why public health organizations have not paid more attention to the interplay between chemical pollutants and infectious diseases. Except, of course, that opposition to this concept draws upon such a broad network of vested interests throughout government, industry and academia. Given its implications to public health, it would be a shame if what you have proposed regarding polio is never tested in laboratory experiments.
