THURMAN, Iowa -- The mayor of Thurman says there's not much left in the southwest Iowa town. Rescue crews spend much of the evening pulling people from their homes.
The damage is hard to believe, but even more unbelievable is that no one was seriously injured in the storm.
The Fremont County Sheriff said about 100 people have been displaced after an apparent tornado ripped through the town.
A massive piece of metal blocking Larry Hill's refrigerator blew in just before dinner.

3. Tornados were an annual event in the Midwest way back when. They are not new.
I will never forget the Palm Sunday tornadoes in 1965.
