Rudy Giuliani calls on Bill de Blasio to apologize to cops

Source: CBS News

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said current mayor Bill de Blasio owes New York City police an apology for creating "an impression with police that he was on the side of the protesters."

"Mayor de Blasio, please say you're sorry to them for having created a false impression of them," Giuliani said on "Face the Nation" Sunday. "You did create a false impression of them. Say you're sorry. Say you didn't realize. Say you didn't realize you have...a non-white police department, in terms of majority."

<snip>

On "Fox News Sunday" last week, Giuliani faulted the president for showing too much sympathy toward people protesting the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner at the hands of police officers.

"We've had four months of propaganda starting with the president that everybody should hate the police," he said.

The Washington Post's fact checker gave his statement four Pinocchios, their marker of a "whopper" of a false claim.

From the Wikipedia entry for Donna Hanover:

<<On the evening after announcing his cancer diagnosis, reporters observed Rudy Giuliani having "a romantic dinner" with Judith Nathan, the woman who would be identified as his lover.[15] Just one more week later, Giuliani announced that he and Hanover were officially separated at a press conference on May 10. Giuliani had neglected to tell Hanover either of his decision or of the press conference and moments later, with cameras taping her reaction, reporters at her residence apparently shocked her with this info and she was visibly distraught by the unexpected news.>>

showed up late for the wake of Officer Ramos.

The Governor, several Representatives, and several former mayors showed up earlier and spent time with the family, but de Blasio showed up 15 minutes before the wake ended at 9:00 pm. In total, the wake lasted over 8 hours.

This was also the first day since de Blasio became mayor that he did not release his public schedule.

Wait a minute, the service was done by 11:30 am ET. So, what time did the service start, 4:30 am ET in the morning. TOTAL FAIL....

And de Blasio is the MAYOR of NEW YORK....all of NYC. With such the Mayor has duties nearly every day, all day. He showed up on time for the service and to give a condolence speech at the service. He had spent time with Ramos family on the day of the incident and the DAY AFTER. So your point is?

Oh, you have no point.

Meanwhile, the disrespectful NYPD Officers under the "authority" is race baiter Pat Lynch, thought it was appropriate to pull a Westboro Baptist Church move at a service for a fellow fallen officer. You want to know who is DISGUSTING? They are DISGUSTING. End....of....Story!

The Disgusting Act of some NYPD Officers Protesting at a Funeral no less, of a fellow fallen solider. The action is inexcusable and their Commander Bill Bratton, believes the same...

"I certainly don't support that action," Bratton said on Face the Nation. "That funeral was held to honor Officer Ramos. And to bring politics, to bring issues into that event, I think, was very inappropriate."

Someone must:

1. Fail or refuse to obey a lawful order given by a superior

Or

2. Use any abusive or disrespectful language or action towards a supervisor.

Does turning your back constitute either of those things? If Mayor de Blasio determines that it does, what is the punishment and does he have the political power and / or ability to enforce it.

I don't see how the department can issue 25,000 reprimands and have the reprimand actually mean anything. And the union would go apeshit berserk if they had some other more punative measure in mind. He can't just fire everyone like people here want.

Only 250 to 300 Corrective Actions Memorandums with stated charges need to be written, not 25,000. Where did you pull that figure from? What's your source?

Oh, our source is here:

"As de Blasio spoke, hundreds of officers outside the church turned their backs in a sign of disrespect. Some have said de Blasio contributed to a climate of mistrust toward law enforcement amid anti-police protests."

Source: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/12/27/police-officer-ramos-funeral-new-york/20934691/

HUNDREDS not THOUSANDS. Just for the complete correction because we would not want to spread false, made up from the air information on DU right Calista241 of a small number of actual posts.

Meanwhile, their Commanding Officer (i.e. BRATTON) who has already stated pretty publicly on FACE THE NATION the action by HUNDREDS not 25K Officers was his words VERY INAPPROPRIATE has all the authority necessary to charge the 250-300 officers with insubordination if he so choose.

Giuliani’s claim that Obama launched anti-police ‘propaganda’

By Michelle Ye Hee Lee December 23
@myhlee
[email protected]

....
The Pinocchio Test

Giuliani has a point that there is growing animosity among protesters toward police officers. That may have contributed to the actions of individuals such as Brinsley. But the burden of proof rests with the speaker. We combed through Obama’s speeches and can find no evidence of “propaganda” that “everybody should hate the police.”

Perhaps one could fault the president, as some conservatives do, for failing to more forcefully rebut violent demonstrations against police. But that’s an absence of rhetoric. Instead, Giuliani suggested that the president actively launched and promoted anti-police rhetoric — and that is simply Four-Pinocchio false. We would have liked Giuliani’s direct response and will update this column if he responds to our request for an interview.
