Obama to Sign Russia Sanctions Legislation

Source: Associated Press

The White House says President Barack Obama will sign congressional legislation slapping new sanctions on Russia and providing aid to Ukraine.

Spokesman Josh Earnest says Obama continues to have concerns about the bill but believes the legislation still gives him the flexibility he needs. The president is expected to sign the bill this week.

The White House had previously been noncommittal about the widely popular legislation.

Word that Obama would sign the measure comes as Russia grapples with a currency crisis driven both by the impact of previous sanctions and a drop in the price of oil.

I wonder what Europe would have looked like in the late 1930's had some had stepped up to the plate.

Sorry about that.

I don't care who runs Ukraine, though I thought it bad manners for NATO and its allies to overthrown the democratically elected government there.

I also don't care much if Russia controls Crimea, what with it having been a Russian territory for hundreds of years, as I understand it.

I do care, however, about all these sanctions, because if they are successful, the Russian economy will collapse.

How does that help anyone?

Which means I support Obama to seemingly dither on bringing in any new sanctions.
