Justice Dept.: Cleveland police have pattern of excessive force

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by hlthe2b (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

(CNN) -- Above a vehicle bay at one of the Cleveland Division of Police's district stations hangs a sign that reads, "forward operating base," implying the station is in war zone.

The sign sends a message indicative of the community's opinion of the division, Justice Department officials said in a report released Thursday on its nearly two-year investigation that found Cleveland police had demonstrated a "pattern ... of unreasonable and unnecessary use of force."

"This characterization reinforces the view held by some -- both inside and outside the Division -- that CPD is an occupying force instead of a true partner and resource in the community it serves," the investigative report said.

The report further found that Cleveland police use guns, Tasers, "impact weapons," pepper spray and their fists in excess, unnecessarily or in retaliation. Officer also use excessive force on those "who are mentally ill or in crisis," the Justice Department said.

As long as they were regular military, not involved with spooks. The infantile ones with big ideas are always looking for excuses to put them into action, to act them out. You see what you look for, that's how 12 years old girls come to look like hookers and anybody with black skin looks like a "threat".

Yes, they train at different cities and states, but they can request to be transferred anywhere.

At least, that is what I thought.

Hey, there zippy (Rep.John Boehnor from Ohio), while you were authorizing the spending of millions to have the "police" get military grade hardware and then not holding any investigations in what has been happening to the people and had this stuff used against them or who has been training them in this tactic in the hinder land and your state, says a lot about your state, its politics, its serve and protect motto on the police cars and your lack of outright leadership, since you represent your state, you are a disgrace I truly mean you are a disgrace, to this country and the world as a whole.

How many committee hearings have you authorized since you became Speaker of the House on issues of this since you came to power, how many? NOT ONE.
You did not see the link?
How many has your right wing buddy running the state (Kaisch) and the right wing legislature , Attorney General less (Dewine) held hearings into this crap, can you remember or do you need another 214 day vacation from your job as Speaker of the House and $225,000 a year to recall, please go in front and stand on the right wing podium and have your buddies stand behind you and then you can tell everyone how may times.

And you get re-elected by your right wing constituents, that keep placing the blame on the poor and the middle class---really.

Did you know about this Justice Department report or did you shoo shoo it off because it came from a U.S Attorney General put there by a President who you hate and despise.

Ya think? Where do you think these cops got the idea that they were an occupying force? We send them off to war straight out of high school, because that's the only place they can get a job and educational benefits. Then they come back to the USA (if they are lucky and in one piece physically), many with PTSD, and turn them into cops, because they have previous job experience as an occupying force.

And we don't do a damn thing about SOOOOOO many guns in the hands of c riminals and the mentally ill. And we don't do a damn thing about creating real jobs ...

Gee, what is wrong with this picture ????
