Growing support for dismissal of charges against Gov. Perry

Source: KVUE-TV Austin

AUSTIN --Some of the nation's best-known lawyers and legal scholars will file a request in state district court Monday for a judge to dismiss felony charges against Gov. Rick Perry.

The 14 participants include well-known Republicans —former U.S. Solicitors General Ken Starr and Ted Olson, for example —but also Democrats such as former state Supreme Court Justice Raul Gonzalez.

Jeff Blackburn, founder and chief counsel of the Innocence Project of Texas, which has worked to free defendants who were wrongly convicted, is also joining in the effort, according to the request.

Let the prick stand trial and exonerate himself in front of a jury since it's the American way.

It just SUCKS that if this had happened to a Democratic candidate, he/she would have been hung from the nearest tree.
It happens to a GOP'r, ...and "oh, he just made a mistake, you can't jail a politician."
GRRRRRRRR!
I think U.S. citizens (and probably elsewhere as well) think folks with lots of money, can't be put in prison. When in fact, many of them do more selfish harm to others than a kid who robs a liquor store.

'A Travis County grand jury in August indicted Perry on charges of abuse of official capacity and coercion of a public servant. The indictment resulted from his threat last year to Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg to resign after her April 2013 drunken driving conviction or lose $7.5 million in funding to the state's Public Integrity Unit housed in her office. Lehmberg refused to step down, and Perry carried out the threat by using his line-item veto authority in the state budget.'

I'd say he was deserving of everything he gets.

8. Do you know why so many prominent Democrats and liberals are supporting dismissal of the charges?

They're a load of crap, and made in retaliation for trying to stop a renegade district attorney.

It doesn't matter if the defendant is Rick Perry or anyone else. If case is not soon outright dismissed, I predict a jury will take less than an hour to acquit. More importantly, if the case proceeds, do not be surprised of the same tactic is used against sitting Democratic politicians. The criminal justice system is not a mechanism to settle persona vendettas or political disputes, and claiming that Republicans do it is the response of a petulant and hypocritical child.

If you have any doubts that Perry acted appropriately, just watch the videos of the district attorney.

And if not a Jesus freak, you are fucked, as Jesus intended.

This DA was a sinner from the get go, Perry is one of the saints.

Once again it is religion that is fucking this up, how many of the " supporters" are evangelicals, care to count?

Justice for all or justice for none.
