GOP senators urge Obama to hold off on immigration

Source: AP-Excite

By DONNA CASSATA

WASHINGTON (AP) — The three Republican senators responsible for comprehensive immigration legislation, which remains stalled in Congress, on Thursday urged President Barack Obama to hold off on any steps to shield millions of people from deportation.

"Acting by executive order on an issue of this magnitude would be the most divisive action you could take — completely undermining any good-faith effort to meaningfully address this important issue, which would be a disservice to the needs of the American people," Sens. John McCain of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Marco Rubio of Florida wrote to Obama.

Obama has said he would act after next week's midterm elections as Congress has failed to pass legislation to overhaul the nation's immigration system. The president said he would take steps to increase border security, upgrade the processing of border crossers and encourage legal immigration.

He also said he would offer immigrants who have been illegally in the United States for some time a way to become legal residents, pay taxes, pay a fine and learn English.

Seriously though, how much longer do they think the general Majority will keep believing their nonsense? They have to know by now that what they're doing is a game of diminishing returns...unless they're really and truly as rock-stupid as the people who keep believing their lies...and Lindsey and John haven't made a career out of politics by NOT being smarter than the people who challenge them every few years.

If I were Obama, I would name that document the McCain-Graham-Rubio Order, in ANTICIPATION of them actually leveraging the after-election Congress to PASS the comprehensive Legislation the three of them worked on. Behind closed doors, I would be a DICK about it too..

"Well, you want the Order with your names on it rescinded, you know what you have to do. Otherwise it stands as is, and every problem the idiots who voted for you have with it, can now think of YOUR names when they go out and preach their hate.

I almost expect things like this to start happening after next week, because Obama won't have a damn thing left to lose in his last 2 years. It's been a fun game of back and forth, Mr. President, but it's time to start dropping the Hammer.

The republicans want to be the ones to pass immigration reform....on their terms. They fear if the president acts through executive order it will rid them of their chance to make headway with the Hispanic vote and strengthen the democrats. If we wait until they control congress, they will come out with a bill the president cannot sign and will make dems look like they are blocking reform and the republicans will say "we tried".

Expect Obama to ignore this plea. If I were him, I'd spit in their damned face.
