Regulators: Nuclear plant not ready to operate without special oversight

Despite improvements, the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station isn’t ready to operate without special oversight, federal regulators said Thursday.

Representatives of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission acknowledged significant progress at the nuclear plant since it was allowed to restart in December.

Of 180 issues identified in a post-restart improvement plan, the Omaha Public Power District has closed 130 of them, meaning the district has adequately completed work in five of 10 key areas.

“That’s a significant accomplishment that reflects well on your organization,” NRC Regional Administrator Marc Dapas told OPPD managers at a public meeting in Omaha.

That's like a student getting 5 D's and 5 F's in his major classes, and F's in all his other classes.
"He got an E average in his major"
"There is no E"
"He was a music major"
"WTF ???"
