Police find gun, ammo they say belonged to Frein

Source: Scranton Times-Tribune

Police said this afternoon they have recovered an AK-47-style gun and ammunition that belongs to Eric Frein, the man suspected of killing one state trooper and injuring another outside the Blooming Grove barracks.

Authorities also said they believe Mr. Frein is in the area and they are focusing their search along the border of Pike and Monroe counties.

Speaking at a 3 p.m. press conference, Lt. Col. George Bivens, deputy commissioner of operations, said they believe Mr. Frein had been planning the attack for some time and most likely did surveilllance on the Blooming Grove barracks.

Meanwhile, police continued their search for Mr. Frein today.

I live in this area and we never lock our cars or doors (double locking now) but so many homes up here are summer homes for snowbirds and there are also many hunting cabins. He has so many places to hide.... but hunting season is ready to get underway and the bears are out in force trying to fatten up for winter maybe he'll run into a momma bear with her cubs!!

and there were a couple of instances where there were vehicles that seemed to match the description (although it turned out they weren't that close to the description), and the police opened fire on them.

The Asian women were, I believe, delivering newspapers. They had their headlights off because they didn't want to disturb the neighborhood as they drove by to deliver.

Crazy! In then end, I think they got a good settlement out of it. Although, at first what did the city offer? I think it was something like a replacement (not even new) pickup truck. :/

The women would have had to pay taxes on the truck, money they didn't have. I'm not sure what the eventual offer was that the women accepted.

Sorry, I don't feel like researching now. But I recall that I was driving when I heard the settlement.
I think one was shot in the arm and the other near the spine. Again, not 100%.
Maybe someone can post a link.

Margie Carranza, Emma Hernandez Get $4.2 Million for Being Shot by Cops Hunting Dorner
http://blogs.ocweekly.com/navelgazing/2013/04/dorner_margie_carranza_emma_he.php

I hadn't followed up before on their settlement. They deserve every penny of this - not only was their truck shot up (102 bullets, according to the Wikipedia article), the mother was hit twice and the daughter was injured by broken glass. I can't imagine going back to delivering papers after that kind of incident.
