Gingrich, Perry fail to qualify for GOP Primary ballot in Virginia

Last edited Sat Dec 24, 2011, 07:18 AM USA/ET - Edit history (2)

Washington (CNN) -- Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich failed to collect enough signatures to appear on the Virginia primary ballot, the Republican Party of Virginia announced Saturday morning.
Gingrich, as well as Texas Gov. Rick Perry, did not meet the state's requirement of 10,000 signatures and, therefore, did not qualify for the ballot, the Virginia GOP said via Twitter.

1. Merry Christmas.......Santa always delivers.

Heh. So the Newster failed to qualify for the Virginia primary as well as Perry; to be honest, I'm surprised. After all Newt (and Perry) is not some rank amateur from the sticks. He's a veteran professional politician, for Heaven's sake (as is Perry).

This indicates that Gingrich is lacking in on-the-ground organizational competence, and it certainly doesn't bode well for his campaign going forward (which is fine with me).

So Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to one and all. Enjoy the holidays. With this little bit of news, I know I will; anything that makes Teabaggers gnash teeth, wail, and rend their garments is good news for America.

currently in existence for the VA GOP primary, you cannot write-in a candidate; such a ballot would be disqualified.

Which means that the Freepers will have to choose between Mitt Romney or Ron Paul.

Heh.

I love it when a plan comes together.

don't know if they do or not.

The very fact that the GOP (and the Teabaggers in particular) are seriously considering Gingrich to be their standard-bearer, a man of dubious personal morality and ethics, a tired political re-tread and hack, shows the utter depths of desperation and moral/intellectual bankruptcy that the Right has sunk to.

GOP wanna-be's are truly pathetic. In my lifetime of four decades, I've never seen a major U.S. political party put forward such risible candidates for the highest office in the land. Ron Paul? A racist anti-Semite; Michelle Bachmann, an utter lunatic. Rick Santorum, an extremist who would be openly mocked in any sensible civilized democratic society. Rick Perry, an incoherent buffoon who apparently is incapable of stringing together a single sentence. Newt Gingrich, a political re-tread and man who's view of the Constitution he claims to be a scholar of is highly dubious, to put it mildly. John Huntsman and Mitt Romney, two men who are somewhat tolerable, but owing to the extremism now on full lunatic display in the GOP are unelectable because the GOP base will never even consider them for a moment owing largely to religious prejudice.

The GOP has become a party of the insane; the inmates have taken over the asylum,

Just like the Republicans put up a sacrificial lamb against Roosevelt. They know they wouldnt win, but they needed to stay relevant.

Same here. They know they wont win and they know the economy isnt gonna get better in the next 4 years. Better to let the democrat take all the blame for it and then sent in your guy in 2016 when the ship has been (almost) righted.
